Prof. Dr. iur. Ueli Kieser
is a lawyer and since 2012 adjunct professor for Social Security and Health Law at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). He is one of Switzerland's leading researchers in these areas of law. Prof. Kieser teaches Master's courses on Social Security Law at the University of Bern. He studied at the Universities of Zurich and Neuchâtel (1981) and received his summa cum laude doctorate from the University of Zurich (1984). After obtaining a lawyer's license (1988), he spent time abroad in Israel, where he completed his postgraduate studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. In 2005, he went on a research visit to Beirut, Lebanon. In 2006, he was appointed Privatdozent for Social Security Law and Public Health Law at the University of St. Gallen. Since 1995 he has been managing a law firm (German website: www.kspartner.ch) and since 1992 he has been teaching at the Universities of Zurich, St. Gallen and Bern. Prof. Kieser is a substitute judge at the Administrative Court of the Canton of Zurich and a part-time judge at the Federal Appeals Commission for the list of specialties in health insurance. He is also a member of the Bar Examination Board of the Canton of Zurich and speaker in the training course Specialist Lawyer. In addition, he works for several journals: Sozialversicherungsrecht – Rechtsprechung / Gesetzgebung, Hilljournal – Health Insurance and Liability Law, AJP / PJA, Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Sozialversicherung und berufliche Vorsorge und Pflegerecht.
